Abstract-Alternative: The purpose of this study is to examine the correspondence between self-care behaviors of preschoolers and their mothers. In this study, self-care behaviors have been defined as cognitive and behavioral activities to maintain adequrate health in five aspects. These were play, eating, hygiene, prevention of accidents, and health and disease. The study sample consisted of 59 pairs of mothers and nursery children whose ages ranged from four to six years. The nursery children were interviewed by experienced nurses.Questionnaires were sent to the mothers. The results of the study indicated that children's consciousness of intentional behaviors about play, eating, hygiene, and disease was relatively high. From the mothers' questionnaire, the mothers were not aware of the high consciousness of their children toward self-care in play, eating, hygiene, and disease. The mother felt responsibility to care for the children totally. However, in the area of play, hygiene, and prevention of accidents, the mothers acknowledged their children's autonomy to a certain extent. The mothers respected the children's coping strategies.Verbal command was the most frequently taken way for mothers to encourage self-care behaviors in their children. However, the children seemed to have learned through their actual daily experiences most.
